Teams
Every SRC member is welcome to participate in team events – all abilities are catered for, so if you’re interested let a Committee Member know and come along to give it a try.  The more teams we can enter, the happier we are!

Our riding club belongs to British Riding Club Area 15. The Southerndown teams participate in Area 15 competitions and successful teams go on to participate in BRC National Championships.

Participating in team events requires some commitment and you can check the sections below to find out what's involved.

Area 15 Qualifiers & BRC Championships
Please scroll right through this column as there is a lot of information about all events.

The Qualifiers to be held during 2016.
For Championship dates please see below.  Before entering for any Area Qualifier, you must ensure that you will be available for both the Qualifier and
the Championship - this is particularly important for team events.

What do I need to know?

Commitment

Whilst team competitions are extremely enjoyable, team membership comes with some commitments that you will need to make to the team.  This will give you an idea about what's expected.  Janneke Hall is our Chef d'Equippe and will be happy to answer any questions or provide support should you wish to participate. alternatively you can view the current rule book at http://www.bhs.org.uk/enjoy-riding/british-riding-clubs/brc-rulebook

Your horse

Your horse will need up to date vaccinations in order to participate in Area and National events.  The Flue Vaccination Checker can help you make sure that your horse is fully eligible.  If you are unsure please speak to Sally Towler or Janneke.

Team Rules

As you would expect when competing at Area and National level there are some team rules that you will need to understand and comply with.  Janneke will be happy to provide you with any clarification should you need to find out more.

BRC Guidelines for Riding Hats (2016)

New Rules apply from January 2016.

Body Protectors

Anyone who wishes to take part in anything involving feet leaving the ground must ensure that their body protector meets BRC Rulesof being manufactured in or after year 2000 and carrying the appropriate kitemark.

Dope Testing

This will continue to be undertaken at all Championships and will be rolled out for all Area Qualifiers once all officials and stewards have received training.
